Our Mission

We believe digital accessibility shouldn't require expensive tools, enterprise contracts, or specialized expertise. Deficiency View exists to give every designer and developer - regardless of budget the tools to build inclusively.

Scientific Accuracy

Powered by the Machado et al. (2009) color transformation matrices the same methodology used in Adobe Photoshop.

Universally Accessible

Runs entirely in the browser. No installs, no accounts, no paywalls. Accessibility tooling should itself be accessible.

WCAG Aligned

Aligns with WCAG 2.2 criteria 1.4.1 (Use of Color) and 1.4.3 (Contrast) giving designers a clear, actionable target.

Built for Inclusivity

Every feature starts with: "Does this help someone with CVD experience digital content better?" Full stop.

The Four Types We Simulate

Each type uses distinct color transformation matrices based on clinical research by Machado et al. (2009).

Protanopia
Red-blind

Reds appear dark or black. Red-green distinctions are lost. Affects ~1% of men.

Deuteranopia
Green-blind

Greens and reds blend into yellows. The most common CVD type, affecting ~6% of men.

Tritanopia
Blue-blind

Blues appear greenish, yellows shift pink. Affects men and women equally.

Achromatopsia
Complete color blindness

Full absence of color perception everything in grayscale. Rare but critical to design for.
